School Supplies

For every child in our community who would otherwise go without, MFCC wants to fill a new backpack with new school supplies.  It is our goal to help make sure every child in our community starts this school year with what they need for a great new year of learning.  Thanks to generous funding from a private funder, we have the new backpacks.  Now our challenge is to gather enough school supplies to put into each backpack that we will give to a child in need.

School supplies donations can be dropped off at The Milton Family Community Center (MFCC), located at 23 Villemaire Lane, Milton, VT; between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM, Monday – Friday.  Donated items needed by Monday August 24th to assure we know we have enough supplies for every backpack given to a child in need. Please see the list of supplies here:

Effective Wednesday July 1st, Heart n Soul by MARKS BBQ will be partnering with the Milton Family Community Center’s Emergency Food Shelf to provide 50 meals per week to food insecure families in Milton and the surrounding communities. This will be an ongoing initiative.

The Yellowjackets Fund

yellow jackets

The Yellowjackets Fund is a new program for Milton families with school age children who have been thrown into crisis by the coronavirus pandemic. This new fund is being launched by the Milton Family Community Center (MFCC) to help Milton families get through this unprecedented threat to their well-being. MFCC is ready to receive donations for the substantial needs of Milton families. The increase in food assistance at Vermont’s foodbanks and in applications for 3Squares tell the blunt truth about what families are facing as do the tens of thousands seeking unemployment. The Yellowjackets Fund will be a direct source of support for families to address food insecurity, health care, and any basic needs creating a bridge from this crisis to the far side when we can all get back on our feet. A clear-eyed look at the crisis now indicates this crossing will last for some time making the need for sustained support apparent and essential.

Make a Donation Now

Our capacity to see the suffering of others as our own is what will bring us through the coronavirus pandemic with our communities intact and perhaps even strengthened by that simple act of giving whatever we can. Just as we saw Governor’s send ventilators to states with the greatest need, we need to share our resources to the best of our ability with the families we know need it most right now.
